What do you do with all this wood? - Eric Law

Over the next 60 years, all the landfills in the U.S will be full ... And wood is one of the biggest contributors to landfill space by volume - Eric Law

The challenge, what do you do with all this wood? If we don't put it in the landfill, we chip it and we burn it. Okay. That's not much better - Eric Law

We're bringing technology to market that says, let's take as much of this wood as we can, use it in buildings again. I can store carbon and I'm housing people. Our goal is to keep it back in circularity and let people build with it again. - Eric Law

Anytime you jump into something new, ask questions and listen, and you'll discover a world you never knew existed. Take construction recycling streams. I've seen the cement re-grinders on the side of the road on big highway construction projects, grinding up what they demolish for re-use.

I know metal and steel have been recycled for long time.

Wood - Dimensional construction, not so much. Used in concrete forms, supports, framing, bracing, scaffolding, temporary stairs, it's hauled off to fill or burn.

Metal - The main impediment to treating used construction wood, like new, and reinserting into the cycle. Can't run a nail or screw through a wood processing machine.

Solution - A purpose built robot (or system if you will), specifically designed to remove nails, screws, and other fasteners from wood, including the metal detector check at the end.

Enjoying my deeper dive into Robotics.
